Swaying Brush: A Playful Display Font for Creative Campaigns

It was 3 PM on a Thursday, and I was finalizing the visual assets for a seasonal sale campaign. The client wanted something that felt fresh, approachable, and visually dynamic—something that would stand out in a fast-scrolling feed. That’s when I reached for Swaying Brush, a display font with a relaxed, hand-traced feel. It wasn’t just about finding a font; it was about finding the right mood.

A Font with Personality

Swaying Brush isn’t your typical display font. Traced from real brushstrokes, it carries a sense of spontaneity and warmth. Each letter feels like it was drawn with care, giving it a soft, organic rhythm. This makes it perfect for campaigns that want to evoke a sense of playfulness, creativity, or artisanal charm. Its curves and gentle slants give it a relaxed vibe, which works well for lifestyle brands, creative services, or any brand aiming to feel more human and less corporate.

When I first applied it to a product teaser graphic, the result was unexpected. The text didn’t just sit on top of the image—it seemed to flow with it. The character shapes added subtle movement, making the headline feel alive without being overwhelming.

Testing Swaying Brush in Real Campaigns

I tested Swaying Brush across several campaign elements. For a YouTube thumbnail, I used it for the title of a course launch video. The font’s softness balanced the bold visuals behind it, creating a harmonious contrast. On Instagram, I paired it with a clean sans serif for a promotional post about a new product line. The combination worked well—Swaying Brush drew attention as the headline, while the sans serif kept the supporting text readable and professional.

In digital ads, I found that Swaying Brush performed best when used for short headlines or callouts. Its visual weight made it ideal for grabbing attention quickly, especially on mobile screens where users scroll rapidly. However, I noticed that using it for longer copy or dense information didn’t work as well. The fluidity of the strokes can sometimes make small text harder to read, so I reserved it for decorative titles and not for body text.

For Pinterest pins, I used Swaying Brush to create a series of quote graphics. The font’s playful nature matched the tone of the content perfectly, and the pins saw higher engagement compared to previous designs with more formal typefaces.

Design Tips for Using Swaying Brush

If you’re considering Swaying Brush for your next campaign, here are a few practical tips:

One thing to note is that Swaying Brush might not be the best fit for formal or technical communication. Its relaxed style is more suited for creative, lifestyle, or entertainment-related campaigns. Still, its versatility allows it to adapt to various branding needs as long as the message aligns with its tone.

Branding Consistency and Visual Hierarchy

Consistency is key in any campaign, and Swaying Brush can help reinforce brand identity when used strategically. By applying it consistently across social media posts, email headers, or website banners, you can create a cohesive look that reinforces your brand’s personality.

Its unique style also helps establish visual hierarchy. When placed above supporting text, it naturally draws the eye, making it an excellent choice for headlines, taglines, or promotional labels. Just be mindful of how much contrast it has with other elements in your design to ensure clarity and accessibility.

Whether you're launching a product, promoting a webinar, or building a content series, Swaying Brush adds a touch of personality that can elevate your visuals. It’s not just a font—it’s a storytelling tool that can help your message resonate more deeply with your audience.
